Do you ever start your day with a list of things that need to be done only to realize halfway through distraction led you somewhere else?
I start my day by sitting up in bed, praying, 'Lord, I surrender this day to you.' Jesus is front and center before my feet even hit the floor. But as you can imagine, the day starts, and the world demands begin to sneak in and grab my attention.
By the late afternoon, I hit the button on the kettle, open the cabinet door, and peruse my tea choices. It's time for a moment with God. Taking a quiet moment with Him gives your heart time to listen to his promptings. Isaiah 21 says, 'Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, "This is the way, walk in it." I feel so comforted by this verse, especially when I think my day gets a little off track.
Listen to those nudges, those moments of intuition, telling you to slow down, take a moment, breathe for it is in those moments that you might just be stepping off the path laid out for you. Don't be afraid to ask with a cup of tea in hand, 'Is this the way, Lord?' Then close your eyes and listen. You never know what you might hear, feel, or see.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are our way maker. Forgive us when we let the world take over our day. Remind us that a moment with you is a precious gift that we can unwrap any time of the day. Thank you for your grace when we go the wrong way, and your loving kindness when you help us get back on track.
Amen.
